Here is the rough sketch for the portico scene. One of the 16' tall flats that will become a column. You can see one of the columns being rigged. This is one of five fence sections that will be put in place between the columns. They ended up looking much different then the sketches. Why? Research! We found some pictures of plantation facades we liked so we made some changes. Here's a picture from our Routers page. We set up a jig to make sure all the railing spindles were identical. We had to make around 60 of them! Here we have attached the railing pieces to the pillars.   During rehearsals... Evening scene. The portico columns and railing fly in to meet with the platforms on stage. This creates the look of a front porch of a large southern house.
