The crew making waves! For the rocking ship, crew members lay on the
floor and rock the octagon using 2x3 levers. Additional crew hold up the
mast & sails. |
During scenes when the octagon is to be stationary, coded wedges are
inserted. We were able to have 3 different angles. |
The huge hinge is created by using an 1 1/2" pipe between 2x10
tapered brackets. |
Just one of the scenes using the octagon at a fixed angle. |
The octagon was built in several pieces. The top is a stressed skin
platform. The rolling base is a standard 4x8 platform with six castors. |
These wedges are hinged to the lower platform and controlled from the
back via 1x3 lumber. Three sets have different angles attached. |
