Gallery2 Adding Images; the Gallery can be managed by users and administrators:

Adding content:

It is possible to upload content either 5 images at a time or in bulk via XP which is a simple registry hack that allows the user to select images from their desktop etc and upload to their own folder.

This image displays the edit option for a member to access their personal gallery to add new images. Please choose "your gallery".

Image

The first time you access your gallery it will be empty and have an "add photo" link, the member can simply click this link or the edit link below.

Image

Now you will see a number of links on the left hand side - choose Add item.

Image

You now have a choice, you can upload directly from the browser 5 images at a time, by XP or using the Java Upload Applet; the upload applet requires you install Java first but then requires no further instruction as it is simply drag and drop.

Adding content via XP:

Firstly you will have to install the XP upload manager which is a simple registry hack (this will not damage your computer and you do not need to access the registry).

Image

Once you have selected the import registry file link you will encounter a series of warnings; these warnings are for information and not designed to cause alarm - this process will not damage your computer.

The first section in this process is directly installing or saving the registry file. It is safe to install "run" directly however you can save this file if you wish to run it at a later date.

Image

Once your run the file it will ask you to confirm that you are about to make changes to the registry and ask you to confirm that you wish to apply these changes, please select yes.

Image

Now you will see a confirmation screen advising that the file has been successfully entered into the registry. Now click OK.

Image

Now you are ready to begin uploading your files to your personal gallery.

Once you have imported (installed) the registry file you can now locate your files on your computer to upload.

Click the "Publish selected items to the web" link on the left.

Image

Now you will go through a series of screens to upload your images to your personal folder:

Image

Now select the images you wish to upload, you can choose all or some by click the tick box next to each image.

Image

Select the HSTech.org link and next to continue.

Image

Next make sure the scrap file extensions and set captions are unmarked and press next.

Image

Now select the image size, this is the size of the image when shown in full view, however the administrator may override this however during this process please select 640x480.

Image

You will now begin to upload your files to your personal folder - if during this process you are requested to select a folder, please ensure you select your own folder or the upload will fail as you do not have permission to access it: Only the system administrator has full access to all folders.

Image

Once this is complete your images have been successfully uploaded to your gallery. You can now access your gallery and view your newly uploaded images.

Once you have a picture in full view you can select the edit button underneath and give the picture your own name and description.
For further instructions on using the gallery, please contact the Administrator or visit the support forum for additional FAQs.
