The script is the paperwork of
the author to the audience. It just takes to rest of us to bring that
paperwork to life. The creative team uses the script to discover what
the author wishes to say. But then, we need to communicate how we wish
to say our interpretation, our design, etc... Our paperwork visually
shows all that stuff we want the tech crew to build, to hang, to rig,
to sew, etc.
We have
lots of drawings we need to create. From the designer's ground plans to
the technical director's construction drawings. All of it needs to be
clear and complete. If you don't draw it, it won't show up on stage.
But, be careful. If you do draw it, it will show up. Avoid doodling in
the corner of your plans!
