The Theatre department in Association with Barter Theatre offers a pre-professional training program with four areas of specialization: Acting, Directing, Musical theatre, and Production/Design. Students in the sequenced-based rigorous training program accumulate skills which build upon each other over the course of four years. In-depth academic preparation is combined with extensive production work. The Production/Design Track provides study and practice of all aspects of production and/or design. Students have opportunities to serve as stage managers and assistant stage managers of Theatre Department shows and/or participate in all aspects of production including wardrobe, props, lights, or sound. Production/design majors study basic principles and advanced techniques in scenery, costume, and lighting design, as well as building techniques. They may serve as assistant designers or assistant technical directors to a faculty designer, and possibly design a production at Emory & Henry College.
