| For some books on rigging, check out our Rigging bookshelf. What does it take to be a rigger? Attention to SAFETY! Most Rigging involves hanging things over other people. If something goes wrong, somebody can get hurt. Not good. Riggers need to know the proper methods of securing items like cable, aka wire rope, to other objects without the possibility of slipping. Remember this, your rigging is only as strong as the weakest link. In other words, if you use cable that can hold a thousand pounds and a piece of chain that is rated for 500 pounds, then the whole thing can only hold 500 pounds.
